The grill itself is a different thing altogether, you can use a more abrasive option on this just do not scrub too hard! Please also try to stay away from abrasive cleaners. Not only is this not good for your grill, but if you do not get all of it off it could get in the food! You can even use these grill cleaning products on your stainless steel BBQ set as well! Depending on how much you spent on your grill it should last for a specific amount of years -- IF you take care of. Usually if a grill cost $500 it will last 5 years and if it cost $5,000 it will last 50 years! So putting a little work into your machine will be well worth it in the end.
