The LED GU10 contains 21 individual LED’s in a tight packaged flood light. GU10 LED light bulbs are an ideal replacement for halogen bulbs that are rated between 20 and 30 watts. Best used for ambient light applications, the GU10 can be used for directional lighting in track lighting, recessed can fixtures, traditional ceiling lights, accent scones and security lights.

The GU10 LED bulb manages thermal energy well. Heat from a traditional bulb is wasted energy that costs you money. Filament type bulbs get burning hot to produce a warm light. This heat is energy that is not used to create light. Therefore, it is wasted. Furthermore, this heat adds to your cooling costs in the summer months.

Using only 2.5 watts and giving 155 Lumens, the GU10 LED lamps are a great solution. LED GU10 bulbs are rated at 70,000 hours life expectancy. That is about 40 times longer than an incandescent bulb.

These bulbs use less energy, give off less wasted heat energy, and last longer than any other bulbs. A typical electrical circuit in a home usually accommodates 1500 to 2000 watts of energy output. This is the equivalent of 20 to 25, 100-watt conventional light bulbs. To compare energy consumption, this would be the equivalent of 600 to 800, GU10 LED bulbs. This comparison should be shocking.

The energy savings translates into money saved on the electric bill. Prices range from 12.99 for the 2.5 watt bulb to 184.99 for the 18 watt bulb. The GU10 LED can be purchased on Amazon.com and other e-stores. The GU10 uses proprietary Cree chips that manage heat very well; the LED brightness is enhanced and voltage irregularities are absorbed.

Cree is an industry leader in the LED market. Their products are used in cameras, the auto industry, and other global businesses. The GU10 can be used with a dimmer switch, unlike the compact fluorescent bulbs.

The color range of a bulb is measured in degrees Kelvin. This is a range in temperature that accounts for the perceived color of the light that is given off from a bulb. Daylight bulbs are about 6500 degrees Kelvin. Anything less than this will give off a yellow tint, and this is called a warm light or soft light. Some LED bulbs offer the ability to change the LED color. A rainbow of choices is offered and the bulb can be dialed in with a remote control.
