If you have a standard shower curtain you most likely have some curtain rings that attach it to the rod. You can choose from several colors when choosing a set of rings to use with your shower curtain. If you purchase a more expensive type of shower curtain you will find the shower curtain rings are generally included in a little box that comes with the curtain. This is convenient because you don’t have to go looking for a set of matching rings. However, you get the option of choosing the color you want when the rings are not included in the package.
Most of the types of shower curtain ring materials will be plastic. There are a few metal rings available, but the metal has a tendency to rust when used in a bathroom. The rings that you use to attach your shower curtain with have a small hinge that allows you to pull them apart which creates an opening. You then place the hole of the shower curtain in line with the opening of the curtain rod rings when it is over the rod itself. Then you simply close the gap in the ring to hold the curtain in place.

Some styles of the curtain clip rings are easier to use then others. Some of the rings simply close into position and others need to actually be snapped closed. You will also need to use the curtain to attach a shower curtain ensemble that has both an inner ling curtain and an exterior decorative curtain. With some of the more elegantly designed curtains you can find designer look rings included. The rings can often resemble the look of fine brass or gold, but are actually made out of durable plastic to prevent rusting.
In addition to using curtain rings for a bathroom shower curtain you can also use them for café style curtains. Usually you will find the kitchen style of café curtains that use the wooden curtain rings to attach them to the rod. This is an especially nice look for a country styled kitchen. You can use the café style curtains as a two tiered set with or without a matching valance.
The use of the ring style attachments allows easy opening and closing of the curtains. This is why they are so popular for use as shower curtain attachments. The rings allow you to easily slide the shower curtain aside in one smooth motion so you can easily get out of the shower or tub area.
